K2

Just News 6/5/17  **3 Days of K Left!**

Wednesday--DQ
Bridget Carr, Danielle Stanislawczyk, Nicole Brango and Julie Norton have volunteered to pick up the ice cream from DQ.  Ladies, the ice cream will be ordered and paid for in advance.  Anyone that would like to join us in the cafeteria at 1:15 is welcome.  Please let me know if you are going to take your child home after DQ.  I will have them bring their school bag up to the cafeteria.

Thursday--Beach Day
The children will be outside from 9 to about 11:15.  They need to bring a beach towel with them.  They do not need to bring their school bag unless they want to.  It is only suppose to be in the 60's, so they may want to wear pants and a sweatshirt.
I totally forgot to do a sign up genius for snacks and games (sorry).  Beach Day is open to any parent that wants to come.  I will send out a separate email asking for snacks.  If you are able to help out, please "reply all" so that everyone knows what's happening.
All children are to be picked up in car line at 11:45.  This car line is just like the first day of school.

Friday--Closing Ceremonies
The children are to be dropped off at 9:30 at the main entrance to the school.  They will come down to the classroom by themselves.  All guests are to enter through the Cavanaugh Hall doors which are across from the tether ball court around the back of school.  Ceremonies begin at 10.  K2 is on the left side of the stage.  Afterwards there will be a reception in the East West Hall.
The homeroom parents informed me that they had money left over from the Home and School fund.  They are using that money to purchase snacks and drinks for the reception.  If they need additional funds, they will ask you to contribute.

Additional things...
All books will be sent home by Wednesday.  There is a section in the math book that can help the kids get ready for first grade.  I would suggest you have them work on that, as well as reviewing the letter copybook with the sight words and sentences and First in Math over the summer.  They can write sentences in their journal about fun things that you do over the summer.  If they do this, please do not spell words for them, let them sound them out.  They have come so far this year and I would hate to see any of them take a step backwards.  Just 10-15 minutes a day will be a help.  And of course, read, read, read!

Thank you for all that you do for Sts. Simon and Jude school.  It has been a wonderful year and each child has contributed something special to our class!
